Controversial “Baby Daddy” Father’s Day Card Pulled from Shelves – Details Here!

As we approach Father’s Day, an annual celebration of Fathers, a new controversial and somewhat disrespectful greetings card has been removed off store shelves. The entire exposure of the “Baby Daddy” card begun when a young lady named Takeisha Saunders was browsing the greeting cards aisle at a Target store in Dallas and found the controversial card in the “Husband” section. There were many cards featuring white couples on their covers and the only card featuring a black couple kissing had the caption, “Baby Daddy.”

Takeisha Saunders was furious at the insinuation, she shared a photo of the card with her husband and then posted it on social media and her post went viral. For many “baby daddy” and “baby mama” are terms of endearment, but for many more they are derogatory terms which extend from slavery and most recently to represent unmarried Black parents. American Greetings, who designed the card and Target has since issued apologies for putting the card out in the first place. Their apologies will be accepted without consequence from the Black community as all such infractions upon Blacks are and American Greetings and Target knows as much. Perhaps, it’s the reason they and other companies never think twice before dissing their biggest consumer base, Black People. Think of it, if American Greetings thought differently they would have made more than one Father’s Day card for Blacks. Instead, they paint an entire race under one card for Father’s Day captioned, “Baby Daddy.”
