Harlem Artistic Gold found on 125th Street in NYC

We as a nation of people are so talented. Our talents are endless and its always amazing when you experience a new discovery of our excellence.

That happened this week. Walking cross town on 125th street and stumbled upon, “The Picture Man” who’s vendor table is on the south side of 125th somewhat across from the State building.   What made me stop in my tracks was the amazing painting of Lebron James. The lines, color and detail was so amazing that you felt like you were looking at a picture and not a painting.

This one picture had me so stuck that it inspired me to find out more about the artist. So hello google! Much to my surprise the only thing I found was a short blog on  about this artist so here is…

“Kolongi emigrated from Barbados with a single purpose to establish himself as an international artist, with the chief focus on original artwork and prints. Kolongi’s work emphasizes the compelling heritage and culture of the African American experience. Kolongi’s interest in art started at an early age. At eight years of age Kolongi was awarded first prize in a country wide Barbadian competition. Self taught without the benefit of traditional teachers, Kolongi has forged his own style for which he continues to receive international recognition. The diverse subject matter of Kolongi’s work includes Family, Culture, Spirituality and the Black Experience. Kolongi uses oils, on canvas to convey his messages. Kolongi’s motivation is to project positive images. In this way Kolongi contributes to the education of all people about the greatness of the African Culture. Kolongi’s motto is “make wise use of your time”.

If you are on 125th Street enjoy his art and the great conversation with, “The Picture Man” or you can follow him on instagram @artbykolongi and enjoy!  As we as a nation of people begin to focus and implement real cooperative economics and not bartering we suggest you invest in this artist cuz I do believe soon you won’t be able to purchase his art without shelling out 6 figure prices or more. So invest now and obtain an asset that will grow along with your appreciation for amazing art. It’s our culture! Right! Remember…. if you ain’t Flossin… Why bother!
