Missy Elliott Makes History as First Female Rapper Nominated for Songwriters Hall of Fame – Details Here!

With all of the female rappers who have had very successful careers in music, it’s surprisingly shocking that none were ever even nominated to the, Songwriters Hall of Fame. But as progress goes on more doors are opening and female rappers, who by the way play an integral part in hip hop, will be awarded for their contributions. And as in everything, there is a starting point and Missy Elliott will pioneer it. The star has made history with her recent nomination to the Songwriters Hall of Fame class of 2019.

Missy’s nomination makes her the first female rapper to be considered for the coveted honor. Other nominees include Mariah Carey, Jimmy Cliff, John Prine, The Eurythmics, Mike Love of The Beach Boys and others. Currently there are two rappers inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, JAY-Z, and Jermaine Dupri. If inducted Missy Elliott will become the third.

Congrats to Missy Elliott and Good Luck!
