Hit movie “Ocean’s 8” with its all female cast starring Rihanna, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling and others has set a new franchise debut record with $41.5 million in its opening weekend. The film’s debut at #1 and its new franchise box office record is being called historic by both the media and Hollywood big wigs.
In its opening night “Ocean’s 8” earned $15.9 million beating the $14.7 million earned in the opening nights of “Ocean’s Twelve”. “Ocean’s Eleven” $13.3 million and “Ocean’s Thirteen” $14.7 million. The $41.5 million earned by “Ocean’s 8” was just its domestic numbers. The film which cost $70 million to make has earned $53.7 million globally in its debut weekend.
