As we sat in our office on Valentine’s Day trying to wrap our minds around the senseless school shooting in Florida, we received an email announcing the death of Fantasia’s nephew. Although we didn’t know her nephew personally, we do know that as the senseless violence continues around our country, its sad to see another young person shot and killed.
Fantasia’s nephew, Tyquan Vonricco Washington was 18 years old. He was fatally shot in front of his home in N. Carolina on Valentine’s Day, and died shortly after from multiple gunshot wounds.
Tyquan Vonricco Washington was 18 years old, the guy that shot him was 21. One person is dead and another will probably spend the rest of his life in jail. So, in essence both lives are lost. At some point we have to begin to focus on stopping the violence especially in our neighborhoods where young people are dying everyday.
