Spotify End Hate Content and Hateful Conduct Policy After Pressure – Details Here!

Spotify has decided to end its new Hate Content and Hateful Conduct policy after pressure from artist including Kendrick Lamar. The policy was announced about a month followed by the pulling of artist like R. Kelly from the streaming platform. The days following the policy’s announcement found the list of banned artist growing. Many were not pleased with Spotify’s new policy and saw it as censorship of artists.

In a statement Spotify stated, “While we believe our intentions were good, the language was too vague, we created confusion and concern, and didn’t spend enough time getting input from our own team and key partners before sharing new guidelines.”

Spotify’s statement continued, “Spotify does not permit content whose principal purpose is to incite hatred or violence against people because of their race, religion, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation. As we’ve done before, we will remove content that violates that standard. We’re not talking about offensive, explicit, or vulgar content – we’re talking about hate speech.”

So, is Spotify actually ending it’s censorship policy or did they just hit us with a gang of word play while continuing a policy they claim they have ended?
