Today, The New Negroes shares an original new video taken from their sixth episode . “Eat Your Feelings” finds Open Mike Eagle and Method Man at a lavish dinner party alongside comedian Quinta Brunson. Though instead of fine food, the three indulge themselves with luxury items like Rolex’s, Gucci, and Michael Jordan rookie cards, proving that food isn’t good enough for their expensive tastes. The video is the sixth from Mike and Baron Vaughn’s Comedy Central show following “Lit” featuring Father, “Extra Consent” featuring Lizzo, “Woke as Me” featuring Phonte, “Police Myself” featuring MF Doom and “Unfiltered” featuring Danny Brown and is set to close out the sixth episode airing Friday May 24th at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.
“Eat Your Feelings” arrives amidst the final stops of Open Mike Eagle’s UK and European tour alongside Video Dave and All City Jimmy. Shows in London, Leeds, Newcastle, and Amsterdam are still to come with full dates and ticket details available on his website.
The New Negroes with Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle is a socially aware stand-up and music series showcasing a collection of new and established comedians and musicians. Each episode will include an original music video, with the show’s talent including Lizzo, Danny Brown, Method Man, and more. According to Vaughn and Eagle, the pair took inspiration for the series and title from the term “New Negro,” as popularized during the Harlem Renaissance, referring to Black Americans speaking up, telling their own stories, and affirming their various identities to dismantle outdated assumptions and beliefs.
