Tracy Chapman Sues Nicki Minaj Over Queen Sample – Details Here!

Things ain’t all good between Nicki Minaj and Tracey Chapman like we were left to assume they were. Before dropping her album, Queen, Nicki Minaj and her camp issued statements that the album was held up pending a sample clearance from Tracy Chapman. So when the album finally dropped, we were left to assume it was all good with Ms. Chapman.

It appears now, that a lawsuit has been filed by Tracy Chapman’s lawyer, alleging that Nicki illegally used the song “Baby, Can I Hold You (Tonight)” for her single, “Sorry,” featuring Nas. Although, Nicki’s song “Sorry”, didn’t appear on the album, it was played by Funkmaster Flex and on “The Breakfast Club.” The song was also posted and reposted by media and fans. Nicki’s legal team reportedly feels the lawsuit is baseless because she never included the song on her album. Ms. Chapman’s team asks simply, well how did the DJ’s get the record?

We’ll keep you posted on what may be a request for a bag changing hands from Nicki to Tracy and all will be well.
