VH1 Save The Music Foundation is teaming up with Annapurna pictures for Detroit Public Schools to celebrate the delivery of music instruments. This special delivery will provide Emerson Elementary-Middle School a Core Band Grant from VH1 Save The Music, which will consist of musical instruments, stand, method books to help them get their instrumental music program off the ground and give so many deserving students access to a complete education that include music.

The delivery is in connection to the releasing of the company’s new motion picture, “Detroit”, a dramatic thriller that focuses on the events that transpired one terrifying evening during the civil unrest that tore apart the city of Detroit, and its traumatic aftermath. The delivery will take place on Tuesday, July 25th at 11:00AM at Emerson Elementary-Middle School in Detroit, Michigan.

“We could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with VH1 Save The Music to provide Emerson Elementary-Middle School a Core Band Grant. Music, arts, and an indomitable spirit, are synonymous with the city of Detroit and we are honored to have the chance to give back to the talented youth of Detroit.”

To date VH1 Save The Music Foundation granted to six schools in Detroit Public Community Schools between 1999-2001 to help jumpstart instrumental music programs. Through the support of Annapurna Pictures, Save The Music is thrilled to be back in the motor city.

“We are thrilled to partner with the film Detroit so that we can help give students at Emerson K-8 School the opportunity to kick start their brand new band program said, Chiho Feindler, Senior Director of Programs and Policy at VH1 Save The Music Foundation

As a generous partner of the Foundation, the cast from “Detroit”, Algee Smith, Leon Thomas, Malcolm David Kelley, and Joseph David-Jones will be speaking on the influence music and playing instruments has had on their life and career.
