When it comes to the red carpet, it’s either a hit or miss. To many, the golden globes are one of the less serious award shows, meaning the stars should dress comfortably and but still wow us. Since the golden globes combines film and television there is a greater competition to out-due one another. Some really stood out, but not all in a good way.
Worst dressed:
Lena Dunham- Although Lena is a hit on the show ‘girls’, afraid her bright yellow Zac Posen dress was anything but. To start off, the color was all wrong. Vibrant yellow does not pair well with pale skin and copper hair. The fit was also a problem; too tight in the bust area and midsection, making the star look uncomfortable. Although, Lena did shine when it came to make-up. She really popped when it came to her choice of lip color, a laidback red.
Zoe Saldana- It looks like Zoe couldn’t choose just one dress, but three smashed into one. Sorry, but this look is all wrong. The points on the bust line give an unflattering feel, the straps look mis-palced, and the hem-line just is sloppy. As gorgeous as Zoe is, it’s just not cutting it.
Jennefer Lawrence- You can’t score all the time. Jennifer proved this statement loud and clear. Being compared to roles of toilet paper or a diaper on twitter, this black and white dior gown was not close to flattering. Also, the American Hustler actress went a little overboard on the make-up. However, the cute pixie cut and fabulous earrings, gave us some of the sparkle expected out of J Law.
Best dresed:
Margot Robbie- Living up to her sexy role in The Wolf of Wall Street, demonstrated how to pull of a revealing neckline. This simple but elegant white Gucci gown complimented her figure perfectly. Also the extremely high leg slit gave us a peak at her crazy toned legs.
Olivia Wilde- wow! Prego or not, Olivia hit this one out of the park. Emerald green was the perfect choice of color for this mom-to-be. The all sequined gucci gown with a simple neckline, gave her face a radiant glow. Also, the dress clung to her baby bump in the perfect way, showing she embraces her temporary figure. The thigh-high slit in the back added a complimenting touch of sexiness. Woah mama!
Lupita Nyong’o- Saving the best for last! Dazzling in her bright red Ralph Lauren dress, Lupita seemed to pop out of nowhere. The choice of color couldn’t have been any more spot-on with her gorg dark skin-tone. The stand-out factor of this look, however, was the cape..that’s right cape. This gave the red carpet a necessary introduction to a new and refreshing style twist. The perfect way to start the this new year of fashion!
Looking forward to the next award shows in 2014 to see who takes a fashion risk…and gets it right.
