YBN Almighty Jay Shares Video for New Single + Addresses His Brutal Attack

Today, YBN Almighty Jay returns to share a new single. “Let Me Breathe,” produced by C-Sick, addresses the brutal attack Jay suffered over the weekend in New York, where he received 300 stitches for a face laceration after being repeatedly stabbed, beaten, and robbed by an anonymous group of men chasing viral fame. The song’s accompanying visual, directed by Michael Artis, sees Jay embracing the scars he was left with to make a powerful lyrical statement directly addressing the attack and the struggles of growing up in the public eye.

Directly addressing the incident, Jay raps:

“Just let me breathe, what would you do if you was me? Don’t know what I go through just to get where I wanna’ be. You don’t got n***** plottin’ on you tryna’ rob you at the beach, I can’t even where my jewelry if I wanna’ cross the street.”

The new track serves as the lead single for YBN Almighty Jay’s debut project Legend, coming soon via ART@WAR / Atlantic Records. The new project follows a meteoric rise in 2018 for the entirety of 2018, as Jay contributed heavily to the release of YBN: The Mixtape, which has surpassed 500M streams since its release. Jay also eclipsed 225k subscribers on YouTube behind his popular vlog series, and was featured as one of Vevo DSCVR’s 2019 Artists To Watch alongside YBN Nahmir and YBN Cordae.
