Mac Miller celebrated reaching one million Twitter followers on October 14, 2011, by self-releasing his sixth mixtape, I Love Life, Thank You, as part of his “Road 2 a Million Fans” campaign. Throughout the spring and summer of 2011, he dropped a new track for every 100,000 followers, and the full mixtape—featuring guest spots from Talib Kweli, Bun B, and Sir Michael Rocks, with production by 9th Wonder, Clams Casino, Big Jerm, and others—landed right at the one-million mark Reddit+15Wikipedia+15Vogue+15.
Originally available only on platforms like DatPiff, the 13-track project resurfaced on Spotify, Apple Music, and TIDAL on July 22, 2022, to much fanfare HipHopDX. Reddit users hailed it as an underrated gem:
“This may very well be Mac’s least‑talked about project, but some of the songs … are some of the best work he ever gave us” RedditReddit
The mixtape served as a vibrant precursor to his debut studio album, Blue Slide Park, released in November 2011—showcasing Mac’s upbeat, youthful energy before he shifted toward more introspective themes in later work.
