‘Black Panther’ Sets Records + Opens Doors for Black Films – Details Here

The “Black Panther” movie released by Disney and Marvel is estimated to hit a record breaking $387 million in box office ticket sales by Monday. Upon its release, Hollywood’s theory that movies starring an entire Black cast would never be successful at the box office, was proven wrong within hours.

In fact Hollywood big wigs are said to already be looking for that next big Black made film starring predominantly Black actors. This is all thanks to the instant box office success of the “Black Panther” movie which was directed by Ryan Coogler. Credit should also be given to “Straight Outta Compton” movie which was released in 2015 and also set a box office record.

In many theaters around the country movie goers showed up to see the “Black Panther” movie wearing traditional African clothing. There was a certain apparent level of pride on display this weekend that hasn’t been seen possibly since the 70’s when the first Blaxploitation movie was released. Unlike those films which exploited Blacks, the “Black Panther” movie sees Blacks in a different light.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet you definitely should make your best efforts to see it ASAP!
