Its been a great week or so for Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover no relation to the actor Danny Glover. When Childish Gambino’s dropped his “This is America” video, he dropped perhaps what will be one of the most talked about content ever. Many people including historians have for the past week or so deciphering from their perspective what they think every aspect of his video and song means. And at some point perhaps it would take a collage of all of their thoughts to create one view of what the video meant.

To date Childish Gambino’s video for “This Is America” has been watched over 113 million times on YouTube. 85.3 million of those views occurred in its first week on YouTube making it the biggest first week debut of any video this year. The song currently sits at #1 on the YouTube Songs chart in 11 countries, including the U.S., U.K. and Australia. The single itself has been streamed over 165 million times across various platforms making the song debut at #1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart.
