Cuco shares new video + launching North American tour in June
Today, Cuco shares a new video for his recently-released single “Hydrocodone.” T he song is the first offering from his debut album due later this year via  Interscope Records. The video, directed by JazmĂn Garcia and shot in Mexico City, finds Cuco confronting his own mortality and parallels the daunting recovery process that Cuco faced following the car accident that he and the band suffered last Fall.Â
Check out the video below.
Garcia shares about the concept behind the video, “‘Hydrocodone’ is a music video dedicated to the memory of our past and future selves. It’s an abstract journey through a young man’s memories before and after a big accident. I really vibed with Omar in his love for classic Boleros, songs sung in EspaĂąol that so often merge misery and love so poetically. So as Cuco laments about his solitude and pain in his song, the video becomes a metaphor for the longing / nostalgia for something / someone we once were, before a near-death experience, and who we have yet to become as we grow older. Although melancholy in subject matter, I wanted to approach solitude and sadness through beauty and magic realism, and also avoid cliches about romantic relationships.”
                   Â
Cuco is also embarking on a run of North American headline tour dates this summer starting on the East Coast and concluding in his hometown of Los Angeles. This will be the first national tour he’s embarked on since the accident and remaining tickets are available now.Â
