Indi Spotlight: Brian Owens Unveils Animated Music Video For Latest Single “For You”
American soul singer Brian Owens has unveiled his new fully-animated music video for the single “For You,” which was recorded with famed GRAMMY winning vocalist Michael McDonald. It’s the first video from his new album SOUL OF FERGUSON, which is available globally at all online music retailers.
Directed and produced by 351 Studios, the video is set in an animated version of several St. Louis, Missouri landmarks and features Owens and his band, The Deacons of Soul.[arve url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH9IW7g0624″ title=”For You – Brian Owens ft. Michael McDonald” autoplay=”yes” /]
“It was really exciting to work with 351 to create this video,” says Owens. “The main character is based off of my oldest son and I pray that what he represents and does in the video, all of my children can embody!
Both Owens and McDonald hail from Ferguson, Missouri. Their paths first crossed in 2015 when Owens opened for McDonald at a benefit concert. Owens hit the road with McDonald to do several more shows with him and the two quickly became friends.
McDonald recently spoke about Owens in a recent interview for Newsweek stating, “He [Brian] is beyond a doubt one of my favorite new artists. He grew up in the very place I walked as a kid. I sang on his song “For You” and when first he played it to me, I thought, God, that must be some really old, obscure soul tune from the early Marvin Gaye era or something.”
Owens is currently touring across the country with upcoming stops in California, Maine, New Jersey and New York. For a complete list of upcoming tour dates visit BrianOwensSoul.com
