With the ongoing surge of disinformation, blackface and other challenges to equality directed at the African-American community, another fashion icon has stepped forward with a new announcement. J. Alexander Martin is not only the co-founder of the iconic FUBU brand, but he’s also an avid businessman with many successful ventures. Most recently, he added author to his previous titles after penning his successful book, Money Makes Me Crazy. The book is a must read.

When it comes to spending money, African-Americans are the number one consumers in the United States, hands down. Yet, the African-American community is also the most underserved demographic. It was this mistreatment of an entire demographic and culture that fertilized the market for and the birth of such brands as FUBU and others. As the proverbial saying goes, ‘history always repeats itself.’ Today, J. Alexander took to his Instagram page and announced the formation and launch of the For Us By Us Network.

The announcement which was made via a video post was captioned, “We always felt that companies like Gucci/Prada/and Montclair didn’t represent us properly, so we took matters in our own hand’s and created a clothing brand that was (For Us By Us) apparel that was designed for our culture and turned it into a $6 billion Dollar company.” J. said.

“Today is a new day, and now we notice these media outlets/production companies and networks are the same, they don’t recognize our greatness!! So we are back at it again. We are building a new brand that’s (For Us By Us) The For Us By Us Network!! It’s time to show our greatness and speak even LOUDER and build another multi billion dollar company, because they think we can’t do it like them on their level with our own original content.”
