Kendrick Lamar Becomes First Hip Hop Artist to Receive Pulitzer Prize – Details Here!
CONGRATS are in order for Kendrick Lamar on becoming the first Hip Hop artist to be honored with a Pulitzer Prize. Every milestone surpassed by achievements in Hip Hop is a great day for the art form and for music overall. Hip Hop has opened so many doors, given so many people jobs and the ability to feed their family, so much so that all of us who share in that abundance should be grateful for every new inch added to its advancement.
The Pulitzer Prize organization announced that Kendrick Lamar’s album DAMN had received the highly coveted awarded which in the past had been awarded to Classical music composers and jazz musicians. Kendrick Lamar as a Pulitzer Prize for Music recipient is now and forever lamented among many greats and legends of music.
Pulitzer describes DAMN. as a “virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.”

We didn’t need the the Pulitzer organization to tell us that Kendrick Lamar is great or to tell us how great he is, because we already knew. But, nevertheless it is an honor that Kendrick Lamar is recognized by the organization.
