The number 27 is a dubious one for the stars who are aware of its connotations but for those who didn’t live past it, well, they are legends. Many great stars never lived past their 27th birthday, but instead during that year they were inaugurated into the legendary “Forever 27 Club.” The members include legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain, to name a few. Prior to his 28th birthday and while living in his 27th year, Machine Gun Kelly released his emotionally charged video reflecting on his career and the fragility of his life.

The video for “27” which was released a day before MGK’s 28th birthday features a collage of photos and video footage of the days when no one knew who MGK was. The main footage features his performance of “27” and his narration of his life and experience up until this point in life. It also includes footage of fans reflection on what the star means to them and how he has inspired their lives. The song is symbolic but it’s sort of a ulegy for the living.

Check out the video for “27” below.
