Since he was a child Shortee Redd knew his purpose in life would be in Entertainment. A signed
artist in the Rap group BIV 10 Pee Wee All-stars discovered by Michael Bivens when he was only
9 years old. Says he realized his dream to work in music was when he was only 5, and
remembered his very first rap ever was about the looney tunes and all his favorite cartoons as a
kid. Redd is biracial but never had the mixed kid tendency traumas that most biracial people
face in their upbringing, he knew he was different but for different reasons. He was more
focused on art and working in the industry than how others viewed him.
Redd is transparent and authentic maybe that’s where the stage name comes from, he is short
in stature but deep minded and fair skinned as black people would call it “red bone complexion”
hence the term Redd. His Uncle says that as a kid whenever he got mad, he always turned red in
the face. So, it suits him that he goes by the name Redd.
Redd is deeply influenced by the artists of his generation and his style as a kid showed this
effortlessly, Artists like Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, and Nas were most inspiring, However being
a New York city native his all-time favorite artist in music influence of all time is Jay-Z but no one
is more influential than family. He says His father and Uncle taught him strength, honor,
integrity and all the determination he has as a man.
