Nicole Richie Talks Fashion With Rosie Huntington-Whiteley For Philadelphia Style Magazine

With the launch of her new clothing line right around the corner, Nicole Richie has been doing major press and promotions lately.

The 32-year-old designer recently sat down with Rosie Huntington-Whitely for Philadelphia Style magazine to talk about her upcoming apparel line for House of Harlow 1960, all things fashion, motherhood and more.

When describing her style, Nicole considers it laid-back fashion. “I’ve always been someone who’s extremely relaxed in my everyday life,” she said. “I’m not the girl who can wear awful seven-inch heels all night.”

And as for why she’s always seen in prints and colors, she explains, ” I like color around my face because it does something to me emotionally. I don’t like to wear black because it brings me down.”

With her upcoming apparel line coming up, Nicole explained what inspired her to initially get into the fashion industry. “Back in the ’80s, my dad had a costume designer named Edna, and she would make me matching tour outfits out of his excess fabric. We’re talking jewels and sequins, very flashy.”

Rosie also asked Nicole if her style has changed post-motherhood. “I’m still wearing the same stuff, the same jeans, the peasant tops.” And clearly Rosie is thinking ahead to her future motherhood days down the road, because she said, “I’m glad to hear that. I’m always wondering if it’s going to change and if I’m going to end up looking really mumsy.”

The House of Harlow 1960 apparel line launches this March, available online at houseofharlow1960.com and shopbop.com.
