Red Bull Music Shares Short Film called “Todo Es Metal” – Watch it Here!

Red Bull Music shared a look into two thriving metal communities that came together for the first time at the Todo Es Metal show that was a part of Red Bull Music Academy Festival Los Angeles. In “Todo Es Metal”, which premiered on Revolver, director Angela Boatwright travels to Querétaro, Mexico, Disgorge’s hometown, to speak to the band and their fans about the release metal brings to the people there. She also spends time in Boyle Heights with the members of Mictlantecuhtli and learns how metal provides a much-needed outlet for a Latino community facing the direct effects of the U.S.’s fluid immigration policies.

Disgorge has been one of the great Mexican metal bands for more than 20 years. But as their popularity continues to grow far beyond the borders of Mexico, Disgorge had never performed in the U.S. until the Todo Es Metal concert at the historic Los Angeles Theatre on October 21, 2017 – joining several influential underground metal bands from L.A. Among them was Mictlantecuhtli from Boyle Heights, California.

The film follows renowned photographer, director, and punk rocker Angela Boatwrights’ work in Thrasher, Dazed & Confused, Mass Appeal, Vice etc. as well as her first feature length documentary, “Los Punks: We Are All We Have”, which premiered at the 2016 Slamdance Film Festival and received critical acclaim for it’s unique look at the homegrown punk scene in Los Angeles.
