The 2017 Essence Festival in New Orleans was not short on star power. Besides singers like Mary J Blige and John Legend performing their latest hits and past chart toppers, several TV shows and their casts were in attendance in full promotion mode.

Here are a sample of the shows to look out for….

Fox Network Star

Starring from left to right Ryan Destiny, Miss Lawrence, Brittany O’Grady, Amiyah Scott, and Jude Demorest, Star will be in it’s second season this winter. The show will continue to follow three young singers in their quest for fame and fortune in the cut throat music industry.

TNT Network Claws

Starring from left to right Karrueche Tran and Niecy Nash, Claws has been a surprise hit halfway through it’s first season. Claws details the lives of five diverse hardworking manicurists in Central Florida under the thumb of a shady crime boss.

Fox Network Ghosted

This supernatural sitcom starring Craig Robinson of Hot Tub Time Machine fame will be debuting on Fox this fall in October 2017. The show follows both a skeptic and a genius true believer in the paranormal who are recruited by an organization to investigate unexplained activities in the Los Angeles area. By Craig Robinson telling us, it sounds like it’s going to be a hilarious show.

ABC Network The Mayor

Another hilarious sitcom debuting this fall is The Mayor on ABC. The Mayor stars relative newcomer Brandon Michael Hall as a struggling hip-hop artist that runs for mayor to promote his mix tape and actually wins. After seeing what happens last fall in the Presidential race we know anything is possible!!
