The Weeknd Drops Surprise Album + Sparks Speculations He Almost Gave Ex Selena Gomez His Kidney – Listen Here!

The Weeknd dropped his surprise album today, shortly after midnight called My Dear Melancholy. The album’s release shocked his grateful fans who had been guessing that he would release an album on Friday. From the first song on the album to the last, fans noticed the level of emotional display from the star particularly in a song said to be written about his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez called “Call Out My Name.” Some of the lyrics in the song finds the singer singing “We found each other/I helped you out of a broken place/You gave me comfort/But falling for you was my mistake.” In another group of lyrics The Weeknd sang, “I said I didn’t feel nothing baby, but I lied/I almost cut a piece of myself for your life.” Fans who have heard the album began to speculate that The Weeknd was still harboring hurt and pain over his break with Selena and is venting on the track. Including the reference which sparked speculations that he regrets a time when he was prepared to donate his kidney to save her life (“I almost cut a piece of myself for your life”).

Artists, particularly R&B artist tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves and its apparent that My Dear Melancholy is The Weeknd’s heart worn on his sleeves for the world to see. Selena Gomez dated Justin Bieber before she dated The Weeknd and for what ever reason they broke up, she ended back up with Justin Bieber. Shortly after her reunion with Justin, who apparently doesn’t take her seriously, because he was back out with another woman. This may have been the inspiration for The Weeknd’s latest body of work My Dear Melancholy.

The appropriately titled album My Dear Melancholy, which consists of six songs is executive produced by The Weeknd and Frank Dukes. It features collaborations with Gesaffelstein, as well as production by Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, Skrillex, Mike WiLL Made-It, Daheala, Cirkut, and Marz.
