Superstar group TLC released their highly anticipated new track called “Way Back (featuring Snoop Dogg)”. The song is the first single from their first album in fifteen years, which is scheduled to drop June 30. In addition, the iconic girl group announced news of their first ever UK show, with an intimate date at London’s Koko (May 9th) that sold out immediately.
This song formally begins the next chapter of TLC, whose new album is set to soundtrack an unbelievable journey thus far. Having sold over 65 million records worldwide, TLC are one of the best-selling American girl groups of all time, with four GRAMMY Awards, four multi-platinum albums (two of which went Diamond), ten Top 10 singles and four Number 1s. Their undeniable influence across music, fashion and female friendship defined and continues to define generations.
Having largely stepped back from the public eye since the tragic passing of Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes, the group is now ready to return to the spotlight. A Kickstarter campaign was launched to contribute towards recording the new album and became the most-funded in the company’s history, with the likes of Katy Perry amongst the first to donate. Early live shows as a duo saw them play sold out arenas in Japan (where they became the first artist to be awarded MTV’s Legend Award since Michael Jackson) as well as the US and Australia, which illustrate a renewed confidence, mixing iconic hits like “Waterfalls,” “No Scrubs” and “Creep” with new material such as “Way Back.”
TLC will co-headline the I Love The ‘90s – The Party Continues Tour with Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath, Naughty By Nature, C+C Music Factory, and others, that kicks off July 7 in Everett, WA and winds through the U.S. and ends September 16 in Chicago, IL.
With “Way Back,” TLC are back where they belong – with a new single, album, tour, and unquestionably still Crazy, Sexy, Cool.
