Toro y Moi enlists Channel Tres for new remix + announces fall North American tour
Today, Toro y Moi returns to announce a new North American tour. Joined by Channel Tres, the run will kick off September 20th in Los Angeles, with stops in Denver, Chicago, and Toronto, before playing November 6th in Boston. Artist pre-sale begins Wednesday, June 19, at 10 AM local time. Local pre-sale begins June 20 at 10 AM local time and general on-sale will begin Friday, June 21, at 10 AM local time.
The tour announcement coincides with Toro sharing a new remix. “Who I Am,” taken from his critically-acclaimed full-length, Outer Peace, gets reworked by tour mate Channel Tres for a sultrier rendition of the track. Tres imbuing the original with smooth horns, tepid keys, and shimmering beats. The remix follows visuals for ” Freelance,” ” Ordinary Pleasure,” and ” 50-50″ featuring Instupendo as well as his performance at NPR’s Tiny Desk.
Already named one of the year’s best albums by Billboard, Vulture, Complex, Highsnobiety, Paste, and Esquire , Outer Peace follows the highly-emotive 2017 album Boo Boo and sees Toro continuing to explore its limits sonically and thematically. The album serving as a homecoming celebration that was written and recorded in the Bay Area after spending a year in Portland surrounded by the solace of nature. A stark contrast to Boo Boo, the new album radiates with a joyous energy that incorporates contemporary hip hop, funk, and Eurodance elements into a dynamic soundscape that remains true to Toro’s distinct identity.
