All evidence shows that season 2 of “Luke Cage” was a huge success for Netflix. So it was very much a surprise when the announcement was made that the fan favorite series was canceled. According to Marvel and Netflix big wigs, the show was pulled after the two were unable to resolve their creative differences regarding the series. They were also unable to come to an agreement over the terms of a season 3 contract, we’re told.

Both companies released a joint statement expressing gratitude to Luke Cage supporters. “Unfortunately, Marvel’s ‘Luke Cage’ will not return for a third season,” the joint statement stated. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”

There is no word yet from Marvel as to their plans for the future of their “Luke Cage” property. For many fans, its hard to believe they’ve seen the last of the super hero series.
