On Cinco de Mayo 2016, Cazal Eyewear celebrated their fortieth anniversary at Limelight Shops in Manhattan’s Chelsea district. The night started with DJ Trauma, who played beautiful music while patrons sipped on Hennessy, Baron Tequila, Cîroc, and Luc Belaire bubbly. Special guest included R&B artist Ro James, Tyson Beckford, Love & Hip-Hop’s Peter Gunz & Rich Dollaz, Hip-Hop artist Uncle Murda, Cease from Black Ink Crew, Paper Rock’s CEO Spliff Star, celebrity event planner Nema, Bravo TV’s Tabasum, SFPL’s Rae Holliday and Gabriel Williams, and other notable influencers.

Cazal gained its popularity in the 1980s, when it was embraced by inner-city youths who quickly deemed the bold, gold trimmed, large Cazal designs as “status wear”. Cazal soon became the most requested eyewear brand in the fashion world, sported by iconic legends such as Run DMC, Amber Rose, Sammie Davis Jr., Stevie Wonder, and most recently, Rick Ross, Hip-Hop artist and founder of Maybach Music Group, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Nas, Gwen Stefani, Cee Lo, Brad Pitt, Lady Gaga, and Carmelo Anthony, to name a few celebrities.

Cazal has been the most coveted cult accessory for decades, and after all these years, it still has a worldwide audience because “Cazal” defines the classic Hip-Hop look of the 80s. Some of its legendary designs from that era are still trendsetting, and its Spring 2016 Exquisite Eyewear Collection was so hot that those attended the Cazalebration caught Cazal Fever!
