SZA Confirms She Will Retire After Her Next Album – Details Here!

What? SZA is retiring after one album? That is the question we’re asking ourselves. Artists have an emotionally sensitive ability and their ways of seeing things are different from the way many of us see things. Some of them are ‘corky’ and particular about the way they want things done or the way they envisioned it being done. So, perhaps SZA is just going through one of those moments most artists go through as they prepare their second album. In the music industry that feeling and anticipation has often been referred to as the “sophomore jinx.” The jinks is usually caused by the thoughts of “how am I gonna top what I’ve already done?”.

SZA in a recent interview with Flaunt Magazine announced that she would be retiring after her upcoming second album. In the interview she stated ‘My world got so much smaller so fast. I have so much to write about, I feel like I’m in a cage ‘I’m making the best album of my life for this next album and I know that because it’s going to be my last album.’

There are also speculations that SZA’s planned retirement from music is due to her being let down by the Grammy Awards organization. She received various Grammy nominations but she left empty handed and for a new artist 0 awards out of 5 nominations can be a shock. You would at least expect to get one trophy. But SZA has debunked this theory because she told GQ ‘You feel like you’re really falling short and you fucking failed [your fans].’ But it didn’t last long, I was so grateful to even have been honored by being nominated and having so many people fuck with my music. She continued, ‘We reached a billion streams on Spotify. The United States fucks with my songs. We’re changing little girls’ lives across the world, and we didn’t even know what we were doing when we started. ‘This is something much bigger than me and a fucking trophy. I’m appreciative of the opportunity. But shit happens.’

We and I’m sure her fans would all agree, sincerely hope that at some point in this creative journey SZA would change her mind as Jay Z and other artists did in the past when they announced their retirements but then decided afterwards to continue to bless the world with great music. God knows we need it!
